So I tested out Grok’s video making capabilities on an old piece of artwork I did back in about 2013 or so..
I was sitting in a Denny’s drawing on a piece of paper with a ballpoint pen. No sketch. Just did this straight. Started with drawing a cat skull then went on from there. I was very much inspired by Junji Ito.

Here’s the original “Bonecat” image I made on paper with ballpoint:

The prompt I put into Grok as a test was “make him walk”.
I actually did not expect anything useful and perhaps expected him to move a bit with his mouth and attempt to walk, but I was extremely pleasantly surprised with a 180 degree turn. which IS VERY COOL IF YOU’RE INTO ANIMATION!

I’m not sure what this sound is all about, since Grok added it.. not me.

This gave me an idea….
If I can isolate a side profile view, I could create a walk cycle. If I could create a walk cycle, it would be a good test to see how texture mapping works with this AI. Since I’m used to ebsynth, and have been using ebsynth for years.

here’s the still frame I utilized:

I added it into grok with the prompt of “make him do a walk cycle”
And we got this lovely loop of him walking. I managed to crop it down, loop it enough (not perfect) and add a greenscreen.
I also edited the first clip to have texture from some photos I took of rusted cars. carefully edited out the background as well and added it. All work was done post-production and you can see how I spliced the two.

not bad for 6 second clips from grok.
